Tips You Need to Eat for Success

This week’s mantra:
“The Danger Zone is Hunger Prone”

Biologically, everything in your body goes awry when you get into the Danger Zone. Everything about your body, mind and spirit wants to be stable and happy. A surefire way to get into a bad place is to allow yourself to get too hungry. When you are hunger prone, your blood sugar gets destabilized causing an over-compensation in appetite. Basically, if you are hungry, you are more likely to eat more calories than you actually need.

To lose body fat, improve energy, optimize brain function and boost mood, it’s critical to keep your blood sugar stable. Your body needs a simultaneous dose of protein paired with carbohydrate in order to keep blood sugar levels balanced. And with stable blood sugar comes an appropriate appetite that is free from constant hunger and food cravings. You will rarely see me eat protein or carbs in the absence of the other because it is so powerful!

Whatever your goal is, I assure you that you will see the best results if you avoid hunger at all costs. This week’s special Blog content is two of my favorite recipes for snacks. Both of these snacks have the perfect balance of protein and carbs (and fat) to seriously stabilize your blood sugar. They are also seriously yummy too. Check out these versions of a Tomato and Basil snack, and a Cacao Berry Parfait!

Excellent advice! Thank you!! I do have a question. I’m following The Zone Diet with 3 meals and 2 snacks everyday. If I need a snack before a workout and one after my workout, are those the 2 snacks in the daily plan or are these additional snacks?
    Thanks!!

      Hello Shirley,

Thank you for your comment. Love hearing from you all.

If your workouts are moderate in intensity and length, the two snacks are in your existing plan. If your workouts are lengthly or strenuous, you may need to add one more snack. Hope I answered your question.
